Our Story
During the summer of 2018, I had my first emergency experience as a mother. We were at a friends house and my son Lucas, who was 2 years old at the time fell and hurt his eye on bike's brake handle. The ambulance came quickly and we were rushed to the emergency room where we found out he needed surgery to repair his eye and tear duct. Lucas was so brave and the North Providence Fire Department and EMT's that arrived on scene were amazing as well as the nurses and doctors at Hasbro Children's Hospital. They all did their very best to get us through this difficult time and for all of them, we are so thankful. During our time in the emergency room, it broke my heart seeing Lucas squeeze the towel stained with his blood so tight when getting looked at by the doctors and nurses as well as prepping for his surgery. After this experience, I started Cuddles of Hope to ensure that any children in the hospital or a shelter have a stuffed friend to cuddle through the difficult times. During emergency situations we can never be fully prepared and stuffed friends get left behind or some children may not have one to love yet. COH is a 501c3 organization dedicated to ensuring children receive a bit of comfort during difficult times. A cuddle bag includes a new stuffed animal, coloring book and crayons. The children keep their new stuffed friend as a symbol of their courage and strength. Cuddles of Hope donates Cuddle Bags that include new stuffed animals, coloring books and crayons. We also donate Hope Bags that include a backpack, stuffed animal, blanket, coloring book, crayons, toiletries and poem.
